MAN WHO MURDERED CONSTABLE ADELAIDE TRIAL ENDS (United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) Reed. 11 a.m. ADELAIDE, Today. John McGrath, aged 23, was found guilty of the murder of Constable Holman on February 24, and was sentenced to death.. Holman, aged 23, was shot in the stomach and died later in hospital. With another constable he questioned two men, when suddenly one man drew a revolver and shot Holman and then ran away. The second constable shot the retreating man in one leg. Two more policemen appeared and several more shots were fired. Later McGrath was charged with murder.
