The new sport of “broadsiding,” or dirt track motor racing, which is to he tried in Auckland in a few months’ time, has been a great success in England this year. The London “Sporting and Dramatic News says:-. ’This success is probably due to the absence of betting, combined with the thrilling nature of the sport itself, a sport in wh ic h the english riders, recently unlearned in the art, are now the equals of anybody. The other day 40,000 people saw the reopening of the Stamford Bridge track, w hile 20,000 visited Wembley on the first day of the season. The AutoCycle Union is this year conducting an English Cup tournament. Concern has recently been felt at the accidents which occurred, and no wonder, considering that recently both the Stamford Bridge and Crystal Palace tracks were lapped at over 45 miles an hour. There are now over 50 tracks in the country.
