g g | APPLES ON' STICKS ♦* frm y ripe apples. Put 8 8 each on to a stick four inches 5 8 long. Boil 3lb brown sugar , g 8 one pint of water, and one tea- 8 8 spoon golden syrup, in a saucepan g g until the mixture is quite brittle g g when test'd in cold water , add one 8 g teaspoon lemon extract and a little 8 j* cochineal or carmine for colouring. § g Dip apples in syrup and turn over tt g and over until they are quite H 3 covered with toffee. Put on a but- 8 8 tered plate and remove before 8 g apples are quite cold. §
