‘THE DOCTOR'S SECRET” IL B. Warner, stage and screen star, makes his debut in a Paramount picture as the principal masculine player in “The Doctor’s Secret,” the alltalking picturisation of Sir James M. Barrie’s noted play, now at the Strand Theatre. Although he has in the films during the past 14 years, Warner has never played in a picture bearing the paramount trade-mark. lie made his initial appearance in 1914, in a picture produced by Jesse L. Lasky, but this was made before Lasky and Adolph Zukor formed the Paramount organisation. Warner’s role in “The Doctor’s Secret” is one of the most powerful of his long career as an actor. Fie enacts the part of Ruth Chatterton’s in the Barrie play, and has an opportunity to use his stage-trunicu . to the fullest advantage. In addition to Warner and Miss Chatter ton, the cast of “The Doctor’s Secret” includes John Loder, the young English acto.r, Robert Edeson, Wilfred Noy, llthcl Wales, Nanci Price, and Pinch-Smiles. The production was directed by William C. de Mille. The programme also includes a number of excellent supporting talkies. They are instrumental music by the “Squire Octette”; a Pox Movietone News, with events of the day in sight and sound; banjo playing by Eddie Peabody; another English all-talkie comedy, entitled “Nap”; and. fimilly, spectacular views of the British Fleet at sea., actually filmed during the manoeuvres, with full sound accompaniment.
