CRUSHED IN DOORWAY

WORKER HAS SEVERAL RIBS BROKEN ACCIDENT AT DESTRUCTOR While working at the City,Council destructor this morning, Mr. William Smith, aged 45, had several ribs broken when he was crushed between an overhanging packing-case on a lorry and a door-post. The lorry was backing into the destructor entrance and a large packingcase, which overhung the side, caught Smith as he stood in the doorway. The lorry was quickly stopped, but not before the man had been badly crushed. A doctor was called and ordered h*m to be removed to his home at 17 Islington Street, Herne Bay, where he was taken by the St. John Ambulance.
