Winter Exhibition Nearing Conclusion

FINAL DAY TOMORROW BIG CROWDS EXPECTED Judging by the good attendance i at the Winter Exhibition this morning and early in the afternoon, there appears to be every promise of good patronage at today's evening session. Tomorrow evening will see the close of the big provincial display, when record attendances are expected. Yesterday there was a big attendance, the receipts showing an increase of £6 compared "with the corresponding day last year. For the period the show has been open the gate takings total £2,872, compared with £2,845 for the same number of days last year. Principal interest this morning was | shown in the dog section, where terriers and toy dogs were judged. These classes, although not so large as in the open section, showed very good quality, and an interesting display resulted. Interest in the baby competition pfcceeds apace. At the conclusion of the voting last evening the positions were:—Baby Grogan, 727 votes; Baby Mildon, 676; Baby Dickman, 633; Baby Sullivan, 602. The final results will be announced this evening. Free picture programmes will be provided again this afternoon and evening, and at S o’clock a display of physical drill, Maori and English songs, and gymnasium and tumbling displays, will be given by the boys of St. Stephen’s Maori School. The pupils of this school have been well trained and are skilful exponents of the traditional songs and hakas of their race. The exhibition will close finally at 10 o’clock tomorrow night. MORE DOGS JUDGED TERRIERS AND TOYS The sharp staccato yelps of fox terriers and the piteous whining of Scottish terriers combined to make a queer medley of row when the terrier and toy dog classes were benched for judging at the Auckland Winter Exhibition this morning.
