OFFENCES RESULT IN GAOL COURT’S LENIENCY IGNORED Pleading guilty on seven charges of obtaining goods and money by means of valueless cheques and one of attempting to obtain money by the same means, Claude Boland Aitken was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment at the Police Court this morning. His sentence will be followed by a term of two years’ reformative detention. ITKEN, aged 34, was said to have obtained goods and money of a total value of £l9 9s by operating liis cheque book, and the charge of attempting related to goods and money valued at £B. ®J* r * -Noble appeared for Aitken and Lnier-Detectiv© Hammond said the inan was on probation, having been admitted for a term of two years in March last for similar offences. Only a few months later he had started operations again, gohig down to Palmerston North. and leaving his cheques on the way.
