Explaining that he was under engagement to erect new premises at the corner of Broadway and Station Street, Mr. T. U. "Wells desired to know, be- ' fore going to tho expense of preparing ; plans, if tho council was prepared to consider an application, in view of the restrictions placed upon his property by the council’s * town-planning proposals. The Legal and Finance Committee will report. The engineer reported in connection with an investigation about a collapsed 24-inch drain on the railway property, that a section of 270 feet, between Abel's and the manhole in Union Street, had collapsed and would cost in the vicinity of £250 to repair.! The collapsed portion would be ultimately cut off. The report was adopted. UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF Cr. R. T. Michaels asked who constituted the personnel of “The Unemployment Committee,” inquiring for particulars of relief works, wages paid and the number of workers employed each month during the past three years. It was agreed to supply the information. Potter, Mayor of Mount Eden, notified that a conference of local bodies had decided to present at tho present session of Parliament a Bill for the formation of a provincial water board.
