MEETING OF EXECUTIVE
ITINERARY OF MATCHES A meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League was held last evening, Mr. G. Rhodes presiding. The advisory committee recommended that the matches between Devonport and Marist and Ponsonby drawn for Saturday, August 3, be played on consecutive Saturdays. The chairman said the results of these matches had a bearing on the championship, and they meant good gates to the League. Mr. W. J. Davidson expressed the opinion that Marist should play Devonport first, as a win to the former would materially improve the chances of both Ponsonby and City. Mr. W. Mincham said patrons would appreciate the opportunity of seeing both matches on the principal ground. A deadlock occurred over the proposed alteration of the fixtures, and it was eventually decided, on the chairmans suggestion, to make the following provisional itinerary, which includes also the Northern Union Challenge Cup matches:—July 27, South Auckland v. Auckland; August 3, club fixture; August 10, club fixture; August 17, North Auckland v. Auckland; August 24, Roope Rooster; August 31, Canterbury v. Auckland; September 7, North Island v. South Island. Mr. Culpan said Otago had not yet issued a challenge for the Northern Union Cup, but September 28 was provisionally arranged. It -was decided by notice of motion that in future no senior player be reinstated to the League code on more thap. two occasions. The New Zealand Council is to be asked to approve of this action. It was resolved to play one complete round in the senior grade B competition for the Stallard Cup, instead of a knock-out as in past seasons.
