DEFENCE RETRENCHMENT
BRUCE CLEARS ANXIOUS SITUATION Reed. 10 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Bruce, that none of the new ships of the Australian fleet would be laid up under the defence retrenchment plans, has cleared an anxious situation.
