£40,000,000 RAILWAY

MR. THOMAS CONSIDERS PROPOSITION WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED (United Service) LONDON, Tuesday. Mr. J. H. Thomas, Lord Privy Seal tnd Minister in Charge of Unemployment, is considering a £40,000,000 scheme sponsored by Viscount Elibank for the construction of an underground goods railway in London of a total length of 75 miles, which would provide work for 60,000 men for four years. Lord Elibank claims that his scheme would solve the problem of the London street traffic and would link up the wharves with the railway stations and West End stores. The railway would have 54 stations.

The promoter says technical experts have considered every detail of the scheme, which is in the hands of an influential syndicate.
