REFUGEES FROM COAST

PARTY AT CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE TOLL GROWS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Seddonville is a township almost deserted by its women and children, for over 100 reached Christchurch by last night’s train from the West Coast. The refugees fear another flood at Seddonville and thus all those not compelled to stay are leaving the place. To the toll of the earthquake must be added two more lives, those of two prospectors named Russell, father and son, who left Seddonville on the morning of June 17, the day the big ’quake occurred, and who have not been found since. They were, it is believed, overwhelmed by a huge slip which came down on the track alongside the Mokihinui River.
