Coming from an Opposition member it was much appreciated after the many brickbats of the first couple of days of the debate. Mr. Hamilton said that the Opposition wished Sir Joseph Ward well in his high office, and hoped, whatever the fortunes of political life might be, he might enjoy the experience, which Mr. Hamilton hoped would be for the good of the country. (Hear, hear.) Mr. Hamilton said that he believed the election of Sir Joseph Ward as leader was actually the birth of the United Party. Few would be so smallminded as not to wish the Government a pleasant time in office, whatever its term might be.
