YACHT RACING PRIZES

PRESENTATION CEREMONY VICTORIA CRUISING CLUB There was a large attendance of members and friends of the Victoria Cruising Club at the club’s 27th annual dance and distribution of prizes held last evening in the Manchester Unity Hall. A fine array of cups and trophies was on view, and the awards included £6O in cash. In presenting the trophies, the vice-patron, Mr. E. R. Davis, apologised for the absence of the patrou, Mr. E. H. Davis, and the president, Mr. W. L. Casey. The past sea,son, said Mr. Davis, had been a very successful one. Six days were given to racing, which was keen and conducted under favourable conditions. He was pleased to announce that the Rakoa and the Opah had tied for the Auzae Cup, presented to the boat securing the largest number of points during the season. The Victoria Club, Mr. Davis said, was one of the most successful yacht clubs in the Dominion, and this was mainly due to the efforts of the officers.

The chief trophies were won as follows:—Anzac Cup, Rakoa and Opah, dead heat, with 2S points each; Surfdale Shield and Mackay Memorial Shield, Wairiki; President’s Cup, Queenie; Boonstra Memorial Cup, Shalimar: Rae Cup, Mistral; Sid. Speight Cup, Spray. Rakoa also secured the highest number of points during the season for boats over 20ft., and Opah the highest number of points for boats ISft. and under.
