FUNERAL OF MRS. READE

NAVAL DETACHMENT PRESENT The funeral of Mrs. G. S. Reade, who died at her home in Landscape Road, Mount Eden, on Saturday, took place yesterday, when there were many friends present. Many condolatory messages were received, including one from Commodore G. T. C. P. Swabey, in command of the New Zealand Naval Station. In recognition of Mr. Reade’s generosity in promoting the establishment of a naval training school in England, Commodore Swabey sent a detachment of 12 naval ratings from the warships in port under the command of Lieutenant J. Westmacott. Six of the sailors a£ted as pall-bearers. The Rev. F. P. Willis, of St. Andrew’s Church, Epsom, officiated at the services at the home and at the Hillsborough Cemetery.
