Suburbs Railway Services Delayed
ENGINE BLOCKS THREE LINES AXLE BREAKS AT PLATFORM Suburban railway traffic from Auckland was dislocated yesterday afternoon when an engineaxle broke and blocked tlj.e lines for some time. It did not affect the main outward line. JUST as the engine of the 4.15 p.m. train to Papatoetoe was backing : into No. 3 platform at the Auckland i | Railway Station to connect with its ’ i train, the rear axle broke and blocked , three sets of points. : 1 The time was unfortunate for the l department, as the outward rush of - traffic was just beginning. Suburban runs were all delayed for some time, . but fortunately the main outward . platform was not blocked and the l Limited express left on time. ? The second Main Trunk express was delayed for some time through * the mishap. By nine o’clock the engine was removed and all lines cleared for traf I fic. g The axle, it is believed, had pos * sessed a flaw for some time. P GOODS TRUCKS LEAVE LINE Two goods trucks left the line at - Otahuhu railway sation yard just be 3 fore 7 o’clock this morning. The - derailment was not a serious one, and 1 the trucks were promptly hauled by the engine back on to the line. r , There was no dislocation of local . or through traffic, and the permanent _ way was undamaged.
