Te Aroha Handicap.—Maori Boy and Justify. Winter Hurdles (third day).—Bright Land, King’s Guard and Prince Lu. Horses that are regarded as doubtful starters are marked with an asterisk. When He Fell There was no doubt that with a change of riders Merry Mint was heavily backed in the open seven on the middle day of the Great Northern meeting. 1-Ie met with some trouble when racing prominently in the leading division a furlong from the judge, and he came down a little further on. On that showing Merry Mint should be expected to play no small part in the handicap flat events at Trentham this week. His first day engagement is the Whyte Handicap.
