OPENING NIGHT UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT Dawn in all its early glory was the scheme of decoration used at the Click Clack Cabaret on Saturday night when it was opened under new management and ownership. Large silver cobwebs were set in relief against the dark walls and a drop scene representing Loch Lomond at dawn covered one end of the ballroom behind the orchestra. A real- ; istic effect was lent by the lights, | surrounded by tinsel and pastel shades in a cloud effect. A dawn ballet, danced by Miss Gwenth McNaughton and a Scottish medley by Miss McXaughton and her pupils, were greatly appreciated. Excellent dance music was provided by Clyde Howley’s Famous Internationals. Luring the dances original novelties were distributed. Among those present were: Mrs. Edwards (Christchurch), who wore a black chiffon velvet gown. Mrs. H. T. Watts, who was in a black ninon frock of uneven length. Mrs. 11. C. Moses, whose black georgette gown was embroidered with diamente. Mrs. G. Sharland, who wore a flounced chiffon gown of palest phlox pink. Mrs. Wood, who wore gold lame and amber georgette. Mrs. Ballantyne, in a silver lace gown worn over flesh tinted chiffon. Mrs. Fowler, wearing chartreuse green satin beaute and silver lace. Miss Molly Overton, whose uneven length frock was of ivory georgette and finest silver lace. A FLOUNCED FROCK Miss Nance Fort, who wore a frock of flounced ivory georgette dipping to the ankles at the back. Miss Lon nee Garrett, wearing pastel green georgette embroidered with silver | beads. Peet, wearing a frilled frock of amber coloured tulle. Miss N. Smyth, who was in hyacinth blue georgette. LYCEUM BRIDGE PARTY An enjoyable bridge party was given by Mrs. C. F. Buscke in the card room of the Lyceum Club’s new premises in honour of Mrs. Prior Williams, who is leaving Auckland soon for an extended holiday. There were six tables of bridge. The guests were: Mesdames Prior Williams, S T. Wicksteed, Reeves, Quartley, Clay, Gaudin, W. Johnston. H. Mason, Young, G. Athenian Spirit at Club Dance

THIRD EVENING OF SESSION LARGE ATTENDANCE The true Athenian spirit permeated the atmosphere of the TT aitemata Athenian Club on Saturday evening, when members assembled, for the third time this session. Mr. Chas. Robinson and Miss Freda Lewins officiated as club host and hostess, and welcomed the members. Lancing was interspersed with songs and elocutionary items given by Miss L. Richardson, Miss E. Berry, Miss Freda Crosher, and Mr. J. Ellis. Solo dances by Miss Jessie -McLaughlin were much appreciated. The accompanist was Miss Lewins. Luring the evening Mr. Percy Free,

the club’s patron, presented a president’s gong to the club. Mr. Bryce Hart thanked Mr. Free for the gift. AMONG THE DANCERS
