PERSONAL. —The Kekerangu has been placed in commission at Sydney, and is in command of Captain J. Bruce. His deck officers are as follow;—Chief, Mr. W. J. Freeman; second, Mr. J. Joyes; third, Mr. L. A. English (temporary). The following engineers have been appointed to the Kekerangu:—Chief, Mr. W. P. Whyte; second, Mr. G. Y. McCallum; third, Mr. G. R. Miller; fourth, Mr. C. W. Vituo. Mr. W. Monteith has joined the Manuka as fifth engineer, relieving Mr. J. S. Hardy for holidays. Mr. A. J. Louden has joined the Moerakt as third engineer in place of Mr. McConville, who has come ashore, suffering from an injury. Captain S. Hewitt has transferred from the command of the Kaimai to the Ivaituna. relieving Captpin A. B. Sizer for orders. Captain C. J. Hackworth of the Kamona, lias been appointed to command the Kaimai. Mr. A. W. Pert, second officer of the Kaitoke, has left the vessel and is proceeding to Wellington for instructions. Mr. R. Duffner has been appointed second officer of the Kowhai, and Mr. R. Allan has been appointed second officer of the Kakariki.
KARAMEA FROM LONDON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the Karamea is to sail from London on July 24 for Auckland, Wellington and Napier. MAUNGANUI AT SAN FRANCISCO.— The Union Company advises that the Maunganui arrived at San Francisco on Friday from Wellington. She is to leave on her return trip on July 11. She is due at Wellington on July 29. CANADIAN VICTOR LEAVES PANAMA. —The Canadian National Steamships has been notified by cable that the Canadian Victor left Panama on June 29 for Auckland and Australian ports. She is due at Auckland on July HUNTINGDON LEAVES PANAMA.— Cabled news has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Federal steamer Huntingdon arrived at Panama on Monday from Auckland, and sailed again on Tuesday for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain. PORT CAMPBELL AT LONDON.— The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Campbell, which sailed from Wellington for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Montevideo, on May 25, is reported to have reached London last Thursday. HUNTINGDON CLEARED COLON. The Federal Line steamer Huntingdon is reported to have cleared Colon last Thursday in continuation of her voyage from New Zealand to London. She was dispatched from Auckland on June 10. WAIHEMO AT NAPIER.—From Pacific Coast ports the Union Company's steamer Waihemo arrived at Napier at 5 p.m. yesterday. She has cargo for discharge at Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and New Plymouth. CERASUS WITH PHOSPHATES.—A. S. Paterson and Company has been advised that the steamer Cerasus, now discharging phosphates at Lyttelton from Juan de Nova, leaves the Canterbury port on Wednesday' for Auckland, and is due here next Saturday to complete discharge. ULIMAROA FROM SYDNEY.—Due at Auckland tomorrow from Sydney, the Huddart-Parker’s intercolonial passenger steamer Ulimaroa later berths at the Queen’s "Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. She is to be dispatched from here at 11 a.m. next Friday' on her return trip to Sydney. RUAPEHU REPORTS—Radio advice has been received by' the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company from the master of the Ruapehu, which left Napier last Wednesday morning for Southampton and London, advising that the vessel is meeting with fierce southerly winds, and all is well.
HORORATA FROM HOME.—Now due at Auckland at 4 p.m. tomorrow from London, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Hororata will anchor at the powder grounds to land explosives before coming to the wharf. From here the vessel proceeds to Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and New Plymouth to complete discharge.
lONIC’S MOVEMENTS.—Efforts are being made by- L. D. Nathan and Company' to dispatch the White Star liner lonic from Auckland next Saturday for Wellington, where she completes her discharge of London cargo. Later the vessel loads at Port Chalmers, thence Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington, and is scheduled to sail finally from "Wellington on August 2 for Southampton and London via Panama.
KUROW FROM SOUTH AUSTRALIA. —Advice has been received by the local office of the Union Company that the steamer Kurow, from Adelaide, Edithburg, Wallarroo and Melbourne, arrived at Bluff at 2.30 o’clock this morning, and sails at 9 o’clock this evening, via Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington and New Plymouth, for Auckland. She is due here early next week. KENT TO COMPLETE.—The Federal steamer Kent arrived at Gisborne this mornring from Napier, and leaves on Wednesday evening for Auckland, where she is due the following evening to complete her loading under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. She is announced to sail finally from this port on July 16 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Panama. MAHIA AT NAPIER—The Shaw, Sa\ dl and Albion Company’s steamer Mania arrived at Napier at 10 o’clock this morning from Wellington, and leaves again tomorrow evening for Gisborne and Auckland, to fiil up for America and England. She is due here next SatUrday, and is scheduled to sail finally from tins port on July' 16 for New York, Boston and London, via Panama. A. S Paterson and Company will act as' the local agent. TOFUA ARRlVlNG.—According to a turther radio message received by' the local office of the Union Company', the island passenger steamer Tofua is meeting with heavy weather, artd is now expected to arrive in the stream at Auckland at 6 o’clock this evening from the Western Pacific Islands. She berths about 7 p.m. at the Queen’s Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. At 11 a.m. next Saturday she sails from Auckland on her return trip to Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. CITY OF SALISBURY IN PORT.—An arrival in the stream at 7 o’clock this morning was the Ellerman and Buc’knall vessel, City of Salisbury from New York. She berthed at Prince s Wharf at about 5.30 a.m. She is under charter to the A. and A. Line, and has a cargo of motor-cars, newsprint, agricultural machinery, and general merchandise. Loading was done at Portland (Maine) and New York, and the latter port was cleared on June 5. The vessel put into Norfolk (Virginia) for bunkers, and left there on June 6, and the Panama Canal was cleared on June 13. The City' of Salisbury enjoyed a good passage as far as Pitcairin Island, but thereafter she encountered strong westerly and sou’westerly winds and gales, rough seas and a heavy swell, right up to the New Zealand coast. . The newsprint that she brings from Portland is the second consignment of Canadian newsprint to be shipped to this country- from that port for some years, the first lot having come by' the Commonwealth and Dominion vessel Port Auckland a few weeks ago. The City' of Salisbury is now 29 months out from Home, having left in February, 1927. This is an exceptionally long time. Captain D. O. Evans commands the vessel, and with him are the following officers:—Chief officer. Mr. C. G. E. Griffith; second, Mr. R. Bradshaw; third, Mr. j. McK. Arnot; chief engineer Mr. X. W. Dixon; second, Mr. W. Mc-Kersie; third, Mr. J. B. Jones; fourth, Mr. J. L. Dahl: fifth, Mr. A. D. Mclntyre: chief steward, Mr. "W. Emery; wireless operators, Messrs. W. Ryrie and R. E. Hopkins. The New Zealand Shipping Company expects to dispa toll the City of Salisburyon Thursday for Wellington. Lyttelton, and Dunedin to complete discharging.
MAILS REACH HOME.—The ActingChief Postmaster has received advice that mails which left. Auckland by the Niagara on June 4 for the United Kingdom via Vancouver arrived in London on July 5. • NIAGARA DUE MONDAY NEXT.—Due at Auckland next Monday from Vancouver and way ports, the local office of the Union Company* advises that the R.M.S. Niagara leaves here at 5 p.m. on Tuesday', July 16, for Sydney. CANADIAN TRANSPORTER SAILING.—The local office of the Canadian National Steamships advises that the Canadian Transporter, at present completing loading operations at King’s Wharf, is to be dispatched for New York, Boston, and Montreal at daylight tomorrow morning. RARANGA LEAVES LIVERPOOL. — According to cable advice received, the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's steamer Raranga left Liverpool on Saturday' with cargo for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is expected to arrive here about August 12. MATAROA AT COLON.—Reported to have reached Colon last Friday the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa is en route from London and Southampton to Wellington. She is due at Wellington on July 23 to land passengers and mail for New Zealand. The general merchandise cargo from London will bo. unloaded at Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Bluff. KING GRUFFYDD FROM ANTWERP. —With basic slag for discharge at Auckland and New Plymouth, the King Line steamer King Gruffydd is due at Auckland on Wednesday* from Antwerp, according to a radio message received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company*. She has been allotted a berth at the King's Wharf to land the local portion of her cargo. C. AND D. LONDON VESSELS.—The Commonwealth and Dominion Line advises that the motor-ship Port Alma, which left London on June 21, will unload at Wellington, Auckland and New Plymouth. The vessel is due at Wellington on July 26 and at Auckland a week later. Following the Port Alma, the Port Melbourne is to leave London for Suva. Auckland and Port Chalmers on July- 31, and the Port Nicholson on August 21 for Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Nelson. BAR6N JEDBURGH DELAYED.—According to reports from the Ellerman and Bueknall vessel City of Salisbury, which arrived at Auckland this morning from New York, the Baron Jedburgh, inward bound from Cuba with a cargo of raw sugar, is being delayed considerably' by heavy weather. The City of Salisburywas in wireless communication with the other vessel, which reported at one stage that she was doing only’ six and a-half knots. It is not expected that the Baron Jedburgh will reach Auckland until Friday next.
