ONEHUNGA ORPHANS’ CLUB

WILL AID ’QUAKE RELIEF It was announced by Mr. Robert Buchanan at the Onehunga Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening that the committee had decided to hold a series of social gatherings for the purpose of raising contributions to the Earthquake Relief Fund. The socials, which will include, cards and dancing, will be held fortnightly, commencing on July 10. The guests of the evening were Bros. A. McDonald and G. V. Pearce, president and secretary, respectively, of the Otahuhu Orphans’ Club, together with several members of the executive committee. The West Tamaki Orphans’ Club was also represented by the past president, Bro. G. Hogan, and the secretary. Bro. Gilbert Scott. Vice-president Bro. 11. Humphries had charge of the gavel, and Bro. R. G. Speight submitted a programme of i vocal. instrumental and humorous items by the following artists:—Bros. J. Smithson. C Pooley. W. Forshaw, R. H. Dunn. S. V. Williams. A. Turner and Alan McSkimming. A feature of the entertainment was the cleverlyrendered items rf Masters Trevor and Pat Andrew. The orchestra, Bro. J. Ligfcton contributed selections from "Faust” and "‘Lustspeil.” Bro. Len ! Elliott was accompanist, j Vice-president Bro. E. Marks will ; preside at the next meeting, when the ! members of the Pupa Lura Orphans’ Club vill be the official guests.
