LIFE SAVING CONTESTS
MAY BE HELD IN AUCKLAND It is possible - that the next Dominion life-saving championships and Nelson Shield competition will be held at Milford Beach. The fixing of the venue each year is the prerogative of the New Zealand branch of the Royal Life-Saving Society. At a combined meeting of the Milford and Takapuna Surf Clubs last week, it was decided to urge Auckland’s claims for next season's championships upon the Royal Life-Saving Society. It was reported that anything up to twelve teams of about twelve members each, from all corners of the Dominion, could be expected to enter for the competitive events. The entertainment expenses of such a number are naturally heavy, and it was stated that the Takapuna clubs would have to guarantee up to £SO toward these costs. It was felt, however. that this was not 100 big a price to pay for the benefits to be obtained from the holding of the championships in Auckland.
