Wellington Double is Full of Possibilities

The next big attraction in the racing world is the winter meeting or the Wellington Racing Club, to come up for decision at Trentham on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, July 10, 11 and 13. The principal events are the two big jumping contests, the Wellington Steeplechase and the Winter Hurdles, run on the first and third days respectively. There are 13 in the Steeplechase and 17 in the hurdles. In the former event the field is not over strong, the more prominent candidates having

dropped out when acceptance time came, but the very evenness of the 13 probable starters almost ensures an exciting struggle. Practically all the best horses in commission figure in the Winter Hurdles, and in this case the form in the Trentham Hurdles on the opening day gives every promise of being illuminating. No penalty is incurred for the bigger race by the winner of the Trentham Hurdles. However, it can safely be said that the contests for the Wellington Steeplechase and Winter I-lurdles suggest many interesting possibilities. The following lists show the horses remaining in the big jumping double at Trentham: —
