Armstrong, 9.2; Baveroy, 9.0; Sayles, 9.0; Olga Chipilly, 9.0. Tiki, who was favourite, was smartest away, followed by Ich Dien, Cobranveil, Chumree, Adit, Kentle and Bay of Biscay. At the second hurdle Baveroy fell. Ich Dien continued to make the pace from Tiki and Cobranveil, with the others well bunched after a mile. Then Adit moved up and gained the lead from Chumree and Ich Dien, while Tiki began to lose ground, and subsequently pulled up. Kentle and Olga Chipilly came into the picture the second time round at the back of the course. Adit remained in front till approaching the home turn, where Chumree and Kentle were in command, with May Day and Bay of Biscay handy. Entering the straight Kentle got through on the rails, and although he had difficulty in shaking off Chumree be heat his challenger at the end by one and three-quarter lengths, with two lengths between second and third. May Day and the others came well behind. Time, 5.393. Kentle is owned by Mr. L. K. S. Mackinnon, the chairman of the Victoria Racing Club, who not long ago bought him for 700 guineas. Kentle won the Brisbane Cup (two miles), in 1927. Tiki slipped a fetlock joint during the running of the race and is reported to be in a bad way. KENSINGTON STEEPLECHASE Of £500; about 2 miles and half a furlong. , STRAIGHT SHOT (C. Grice), br g, aged, by Alawa—Scrimmage, 9.0 1 NAM ERA, 10.9 2 CHAUMONT. 11.4 3 Eight started. Won by a length and a-half, similar distance between second and third. Time, 4.7 i.
