SEVERAL CARS STOLEN GARAGES BROKEN INTO Four motor-cars were taken from city streets during the week-end. and several thefts occurred during last week. One has been recovered, partly damaged by fire, another has been recovered undamaged but two were still missing today. A Triumph sedan, the property of Mrs. Edn vna Roussell, of 23 Belmon Road. Mount Albert, was stolen from Victoria Street on Saturday evening Yesterday the car was found, parti-, burned, near the new Tamaki Rail way Station. The car was valued at £260. A Ford car, the property of Mr. F. J. Hobson, of 15 Hiuemoa Roati Grey Lynn, was stolen from Kdin burgh Street on Saturday evening, it was recovered undamaged. Mr. H. IS. Arthur, of 31 Curran Street, lost his Morris-Oxford car from Walters Road. Mount Eden, while attending a football match at Eden Park. When he returned for his car at 4.45 o'clock it was missing. So far the car has not been recovered. A five-seater Chevrolet, the property of Dalgety and Company, and driven by Mr. S. D. Carrington, was stolen from Alt ham Road at 6 o'clock <;n Saturday evening. It bears the reentered number 1-S3l and has not yet been found. Last week five private garages were broken iixto in Golf Road Epsom, in tme instance several fittings were removed from a car. Mrs. Taylor, of Golf Road, was for tuuate enough to arrive home just in time to see her car leave the garage and prevent the theft of it. The thieves escaped through Alexandra Park. Mr. H. E. Forde, awakened by a. noise in his garage, got out just in time to see his car disappearing down the hill. Luckily the benzine had been turned off. and the supply in the carburetter did not take it more than half a milfe. Although the police were called out in this Instance the thief again escaped. Another resident found his car at Royal Oak with an empty benzine tank I next morning.
