GREAT SOUTH ROAD
BEAUTIFICATION OF PANMURE CORNER LESSEE HOLDS LAND (THE SUN } S Parliamentary Reporter) PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Friday. To enable the Auckland Beautifying Society to carry out its work of improvement on the triangular section of Crown land at the junction of Great South Road and Paumure Road it will be necessary for the society to negotiate with the lessee, as the land has been leased by the Education Department, which controls it. A deputation recently requested that the area be vested in the One Tree Hill Road Board, so that beautification could be facilitated, and the corner be improved for traffic. Mr. W. J. Jordan has been notified by the Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, that the area is portion of the Education Board reserve held under lease from April 1, 1922. The Minister states that it will be necessary *to negotiate with the lessee. He understands action is being taken by the society.
