SOUVENIR HUNTERS

WRECKED AIRPLANE RAIDED VALUABLE RUDDER STOLEN Complaints of souvenir hunting at an air crash were made at the inquest at Shepperton, Middlesex, recently, on Captain E. R. C. Scholefield and Mr. S. W. Sherratt, Surrey, who were killed when their airplane was wrecked at Shepperton, England. The pilot, Captain Scholefield, was attached to the airdrome of Vickers, Ltd., at Weybridge. It was stated that the airplane was being reconditioned for Imperial Airways. A policeman said that after the crash crowds of people tried to get mementoes. Mr. Percy Muller, superintendent of Vickers Aviation. Ltd., said a rudder was missing. “We are prepared to pay a big reward for it," Mr. Mull, continued. “It may be invaluable to us later.” Mr. Muller said that Captain Scholefield was one of the finest spectacular pilots in the world. He did not feel that Captain Scholefield was responsible for the crash. The jury returned a verdict in each case of death by misadventure.
