| AUSTRALIA’S CASH PRIZE I FOR BRITISH PRODUCERS AND WRITERS l_ Conditions for the competition, instituted by the Federal Ministry', for the best film produced in Australia by British interests between January 1, 1929, and March 31, 1930, and also for the best filmscenario by a subject of the British Empire who has lived in Australia for at least two years, have been announced. The prizes offered amount to £IO,OOO, and the funds for this purpose are being raised by the increased duty imposed in imported films last year.

The prizes offered are:—£s,ooo for the best film produced in Australia in the period mentioned: £2,500 and

£1,500 respectively for the second and third best films; £SOO for the best scenario not yet produced in film form, written in Australia, provided that such scenario is up to a standard approved by the appeal board; £SOO for the best film scenario on the above conditions, but the scenario shall contain Australian sentiment.

It is provided, however, that in the case of native-born Australian competitors who have lived for 10 years in the Commonwealth, and are now resident abroad, the scenarios need not necessarily have been written in Australia; At least 50 per cent, of those engaged In the production of the film must he British subjects, who have lived for at least two years in Australia. The film shall be not less than 5,000 feet in length and not more than 8,000 feet. No restriction is imposed regarding the origin or authership of the story.
