MUNICIPAL BAND CONCERT
, TOWN HALL THIS EVENING In the Town Hall tonight, the Munii cipa! Band will cotinue its series of I popular concerts. Bandmaster Smith I has carefully prepared a programme of much charm and variety, “her Rosenkavalier,” a late work by Richard Strauss, will be presented for the first tirno by the band. It is full of luscious melody and harmony. "Oboron” overture is another welcome addition. A special item of interest is a Carillon in E flat. Other tuneful numbers are “Evensong.” “Classical Memories,” and “The Festival of Empire.” Entirely new instrumental solos will be played by Messrs. Purchase (euphonium). Bones (cornet) and McLennan (flute). 'Vocal numbers will be sung by Miss Sarah Staepoole, with Miss Thelma Gordon at the piano. Booking arrangemetns ar© advertised. Joan Cranford will make her talkie 1 debut for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in j “Jungle,” from the Saturday “Evening 1 Post” story by C. E. Scroggins.
