INCREASE IN UNEMPLOYMENT

Unemployment, in Auckland has Increased considerably, according to figures supplied by the Government Labour Department this morning, a total of 1,152 men being registered, compared with 1,080 last week. Of this week’s total 979 are classed as fit for heavy work, and 173 for light work. The figures for the preceding week were 911 and 169 respectively. During the past week 68 men were placed in work, compared with 76 for the week ending June 29.
