AFTER THE DANCE
SCUFFLE WITH CARETAKER “MUST REALIS” CONSEQUENCE” An altercation with, the caretaker of a building in which he and a companion were sitting drinking after a dance resulted in George Ross Champion being charged at the Police Court this morning. Champion, aged 27, who, according to the charge-sheet, hailed from Norfolk island, was represented by Mr. Smyth, who entered a plea of guilty on a charge of assaulting James Jinks. Counsel explained this his client was working and could not appear. According to Sub-Inspector McCarthy, the' caretaker had objected to Champion drinking in the building after the dance. He had ordered the man out and a scuffle had followed. Champion was fined £1 in default three days’ imprisonment. Mr. Smyth asked for the supression of the name, urging that the young man would lose his employment if the name were made public. “I am not going to suppress on that account,” replied Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. “If he does not know how to behave himself he must take the consequences."
