Round the Churches

Services of thanksgriving for the recovery from illness of his Majesty the King will be held in almost every church of ever#' denomination in Auckland tomorrow morning or evening.

His Grace, the Archbishop of New Zealand, will preach at the official diocesan service in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parnell, tomorrow morning. At 3 p.m. the headmaster of King’s School will conduct a young people's service and the acting-vicar will preach at the evening service.

Services according to the order of the celebration in Westminster Abbey will be held in St. Matthew’s Church, Wellesley Street, tomorrow. Canon Grant Cowen will preach in the morning and the Rev. E. Carew Thomas in the evening. Special music will be sung at both services.

The Rev. W. Walker will conduct both services in the * Pitt Street Methodist Church tomorrow. In the evening the Mayor and councillors of Auckland and foreign Consuls stationed in the city will attend.

Mr. A. Hamblin will speak at the Methodist Central Mission service in Airedale Street tomorrow morning. In the evening the Rev. I. C. Horwood will preach in the Strand Theatre, and the film, “The Fool,” will be shown.

At both services in the Edendale Presbyterian Church tomorrow the Rev. W. Gilmour will preach. the morning service being a thanksgiving celebration. The Rev. J. Pattison will conduct the services at Somerville Church,

Special music will be sung at the Community Mission service in the Zealandia Hall, Dominion Road, tomorrow evening, and the Rev. George Jackson will preach on “Is Religious Faith Reasonable?”

Services will be held by the Assemblies of God in New Zealand in the East Street Hall, Karangahape Road, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow.

The Rev. Arthur Mitchell will conduct both services in St. John’s Methodist Church, Ponsonbv Road, tomorrow. Members of the Ponsonby Lodge will attend in the morning and the thanksgiving service will be held in the evening.

The Revs. A. S. Wilson will preach at the thanksgiving service in the Grange Road Baptist Church tomorrow morning. In the evening Mr. Bernard Wilson, a Baptist College student, will speak.

The Rev. J. G. Hughes will speak to the Progressive Church of Spiritualists, Newmarket, at 7 p.m. tomorrow. on “The Justice of True Spiritualism.”

Mrs. Harris-Roberts will give an address on “Practical Spiritualism” in the Spiritual Scientists’ Church, Mackelvie Street, Ponsonby, at 7 p.m. tomorrow. An open circle will be held at 3 p.m.

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, will hold meetings in the Church Hall, Symonds Street, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow. Sunday school will be held in Scots Hall at 11 a.m.

A service of song will be held by the Men’s Brotherhood in the Y.M.C.A. at 4.30 p.m. tomorrow, after the thanksgiving service in the Town Hall.

Mr. R. A. Kinninmonth will speak at the meeting of the International Bible Students’ Association to be held in the Masonic Hall, Edinburgh Street, at 6.45 p.m. tomorrow.

There will be no Unity Hall lecture tomorrow afternoon on account of the Town Hall thanksgiving service, but Mr. C. J. Rolls will speak next Sunday.

A reply to the recent university lectures on the subject of evolution will be given by Dr. W. H. Pettit in the Scots Hall on Wednesday, July 17.
