SOME HIT!
THERE is a certain club that does not appreciate a father umpiring in the cricket match in which his son is a player. On one occasion the son was batting, when there was a loud and confident appeal. The batsman knew that he had touched the ball, and began to walk away. This was not to the liking of the proud father, who roared “Not out.” The wicketkeeper, seeing the batsman well out of his crease, threw the ball at the wicket, and missed, the ball going to the boundary. The scorer, not sure of his ground, asked. “Is that to be credited to byes?” “No,” said the umpire, “runs.”
