CHILD RUN OVER
ACCIDENT IN FREEMAN’S BAY
IN SERIOUS CONDITION Crossing the road by himself late yesterday afternoon a four-year-old boy, Leonard Chapman, ran into the path of an advancing motor-car. The car did not have time to pull up and the front wheel passed over the child. The accident occurred late yesterday afternoon at the foot of Franklin Road in Freeman's Bay. The car was coming down the hill, and although not travelling fast, the boy ran out too suddenly for the driver to avoid him.
The child, whose parents live in Scotland Street, Ponsonby, was picked up by the driver of the car and taken to a doctor nearby. Then he was rushed off to the Auckland Hospital and admitted, suffering from a broken leg and serious head injuries. He was reported to be dangerously ill last evening, and had not improved this morning.
