LARGE ATTENDANCE

The first of a series of monthly dances was held by the social committee© of All Saints’ Church in the Parish Hall, Birkenhead, last evening. The duties of master of ceremonies were successfully carried out by Mr, If. Bramley. The supper tables were arranged with tall vases of arum lilies. e Miss F. Swinburne and Mr. Taft were s the winners of the Monte Carlo waltz. The daVice music, supplied by Miss e Phyllis Lahigans orchestra, was t - greatly appreciated. BRIDE WEARS SMART BEIGE: ENSEMBLE

COOPER—WEBB A quiet wedding took place on Tuesday afternoon at All Saints’ Church. Ponsonby, when Gladys Letetia Webb, eldest daughter of Airs. S. G. Webb and the late Air. S. G. Webb, of Warlev Woods. Birmingham, England. was married to Francis Edward Cooper, Otoroha.nga, eldest son of Captain F. S. Cooper, London, England. The Rev. W. W. Averill performed the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of Air. 11. Lenick, wore a beige kasha ensemble, stone marten fur and beige felt hat. She carried a bouquet of pale tinted roses. The bridesmaid, Aliss Alarjorie Lenick, wore a costume of dove grey, with grey fox fur and hat of lido blue felt. She carried blue flowers. Air. Tracey AlcKean was best man. The reception was held at the home of Airs. H. Lenick, who received the guests in a beige costume with furs and smart felt liat. Included among the guests were: Airs. AT. Ellis and Aliss Connie Ellis (Alarton), Air. and Airs. C. R. E. Partridge, Aliss Betty' Saunders (England), Aliss Ethel Tringle (England) and Air. ' and Airs. Tait.

ST. MONICA GUILD

CARD AFTERNOON AT OTAHUHU

The members and friends of the St. j Alonica Guild, Otahuhu, attended a very enjoyable progressive card afternoon in the Kingsford Hall, Otahuhu, on Wednesday. The tournament prizes were won by Airs. Speed for the progressive five hundred, and Airs. Lovelock for the progressive euchre. A cake competition was won by Airs. Johnson. The proceeds from a stall, which was surrounded with eager purchasers early in the afternoon, will materially assist the funds of the guild.
