WILD RECEPTION GIVEN

BRITISH RESCUERS OF SPANISH AIRMEN

EMBRACES AND BOUQUETS British Official Wireless Reed. 11 a.m. RUGBY, Thursday. A public reception accorded at Madrid today to Captain Lawrence and the other officers of the aircraftcarrier Eagle, and to the Spanish air* men they rescued, was embarrassingly fervid. Wild with enthusiasm, tlie crowds broke through the police ranks and the officers were embraced and showered with bouquets. Spanish officers linked arms to protect the Englishmen from these attentions, until the shelter of the hotel was reached.

The Englishmen will lunch with the Queen of Spain tomorrow.
