PRINCE OF WALES CUP GAME FOR JULY 31

RUGBY UNION MEETING July 31 was the date suggested by the Rugby Union Management Committee last evening tor the Prince of Waies Cup game to be played between the Northern and Southern Maoris. The day is a Wednesday. The New Zealand Union advised the reinstatement of R. J. Cook, H. Howley, J. bpeignt, T. Dufty and T. Pini. it was mentioned in the Junior Management Board report that Marathon juniors would travel to Papaltura on Saturday to play the Manukau Sub-union representative team. An Kdeu Club team nad been given permission to travel to Waipa on Saturday and the Waiuku Cluo confirmed the arrangements made for its match with a Ponsonby junior team. The Match Committee will consider the Wanganui Union’s request for a match against Auckland m Wanganui toward the close of the season. The application will receive favourable consideration providing the game between Auckland and Wairarapa does not eventuate on August 10. Permission was given the North Shore and Manurewa Clubs to take up a collection on home grounds next Saturday for the earthquake fund. An offer made by the Auckland Sports Club to present the union with some pictures of players of earlier days was accepted with thanks. Regarding a dispute between the Thames Valley Union and the Thames Sub-Union The judiciary board advised that in its opinion the players In question, T. Vangioni and R. G. Buchanan, were residents in the Thames Valley district. It was resolved to notify the two bodies accordingly. The following ground officials were appointed for Saturday next: —Mangere, Mr. J. Carr; North Shore, Mr. Elworth; Domain, Messrs. Galbraith and Sparkes: Showgrounds, Messrs. Hoare and Haykow; St. Heliers. Mr. A. Lintell; Jtvondale, Mr. Billmgham; Victoria Park. Mr. Walker: Sturgess Park, Mr. J. Brown; Point Chevalier, Mr. C. Badeley. Mr. H. Frost presided over tho meeting.
