M.P.’s Allowed to Read “All Quiet”

REMARQUE’S BOOK (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter} PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Today. Remarque’s much-talked of book, “All Quiet on the Western Front,’’ has not been banned by the General Assembly Library. On the contrary, four volumes of the novel have been placed In circulation, and it is stated there is a waiting list as long as one’s arm. “As I expected, the Assembly Lib. rary has this great and sensible book on its shelves,” said a member of Pa r . liament when referring to the subject yesterday. "This was the only possible attitude for it to adopt, because, after all, the police have taken no action to suppress the publication, nor has the censor; therefore, when this novel is in such great public demand, what right has any library to ban it ?”
