The election of officers at the annual meeting of the Northern Wairoa branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute, held at Dargaville on Saturday, resulted: President, Mr. A. E. Reynolds (re-elected); vicepresident, Mr. 1,. J. Broomfield; secretary and treasurer, Air. R. Arbuckle (re-elected); auditor, Mr. D. Cole; delegate to Auckland Management Committee, Mr. A. E. Reynolds (reelected); committee. Mr. Smith, Mrs. Goldthorpe, Mr. Watson, Mr. Sundberg. Miss Landv. It was also decided to nominate Messrs. Arbuckle and Broomfield for election as delegates to the Auckland Management Committee. * « * It was decided to submit a request to the postal authorities, at Monday’s meeting of the Dargaville Chamber of Commerce, to the effect that nails arriving in Dargaville by boat on Sunday mornings should be sorted on that morning, to enable business men to attend to any important correspondence at once. Mr. Ft J. Dargaville, who brought the question forward, said he understood that this batch of mail at present was not sorted until Monday morning. «lt =* A general increase is shown in the vital statistics for Dargaville for the period to June 30. the first six months of the current year. The figures, compared with those of the corresponding period of last year, shown in parentheses) are: Births, 83 (57); deaths. 19 (41); marriages, 19 (5). For the month of June, births registered were nine (11), deaths 1 (4), marriages five (2). Mr. J. H. McCarroll. chairman of tho Kaipara Hospital Board, is attending a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Hospital Boards’ Association in Wellington.
