BROTHER TO CORONACH PURCHASED FOR AUSTRALIA (United I*.A. —By Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, Tuesday. Air. Percy Miller, owner of the Kia Ora stud, who is now in England, has purchased from Lord Woolavington a five-year-old horse, Caledon, a brother of the Derby winner of 1926. Coronach (Hurry On —-Wet Kiss). Caledon has won £ 50,000 in prize money. Captain Bunsby, imported last week by Mr. J. Donald, of the Westmere stud, Wanganui, is a three-quarter brother to Coronach and Caledon, being by Captain Cuttle, a son of Hurry On. The statement that Caledon has won £50.000 in stake money is surely an error on the part of the cable man. Coronach has won £37,000. Caledon was not raced as a two-year-old, nor last season as a four-year-old. At three years his only success was in the Newmarket Great Foal Stakes, worth £1,194, a three-year-old race over a mile and a-quarter. His other placings that year were a third in the Blackbrook Maiden Sweepstakes (Windsor), the total stake amounting to £228: third in the Burton Plate (Derby). £138; and second in the Royal Stakes (Newmarket), £7OO. This is the sum total of Caledon’s placed record on the English turf, which shows that his stake money did not exceed £1,300. Even had Caledon been raced this season his name has not been noticed among the successful horses.
