FAMED FLYER DEAD
WILMER STULTZ KILLED IN CRASH TWO COMPANIONS ALSO (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9 a.m. NEW YORK, Monday. At the Roosevelt Field, New York, Wilmer Stultz, the famous flyer who piloted Miss Amelia Earhart across the Atlantic, killed with two companions in a spectacular crash. The biplane in which Stultz rose with the intention of stunting went into a tailspin at 200 feet, and spun down at break neck speed. It struck the ground with a terrific noise, barely missing a motor-truck in which two men were sitting. Stuitz’s companions were killed instantly, and he himself died in hospital immediately afterwards. Wilmer Stultz flew the Atlantic with Miss Earhart and Lou Gordon in June of last year. They crossed in the airplane Friendship from Trepassy Bay, Newfoundland, to Llanelly, in Wales.
