TWO SMALL FIRES IN CITY
The City Fire Brigade was called out twice yesterday to small fires in the city. Neither of them caused auy serious damage. The first broke out in the garage of the Auckland Meat Company in Wakefield Street at about 3.30 p.m., when a back-fire from a lorry engine set alight to some woodwork. The flames were extinguished before any damage was done. The second broke out in a building in Baker Street, owned by the Fletcher Construction Company, at about 7.15 last evening. It was so slight that it was extinguished by means of chemical equipment.
