WATER FOR PAPATOETOE

WORK WELL ADVANCED Good progress is being made in connection with the water supply scheme for the Papatoetoe town district. Tlv* reservoir on the top of McLauglAin’s Hill is now completed, and awaiting the arrival of the pump before it can be filled and tested. The work of concreting the shaft is complete, and the laying of a concrete slab at the base of the well is all that remains to be done. The erection of the pump-house is well under way, and will be completed and ready for the pumping machinery at an early date. The route of the pipe-line has been marked out from the water-supply site, and several of the secondary streets have alrea.dy had the line turfed out. The first shipment of the reticulation mains has arrived in Auckland and it is anticipated that the principal parts of the district will be drawing from the supply before Christmas.
