ROAD SIGN POSTING
A.A.A. CO-OPERATION In a recent report on signposting and road information, the touring man ager of the A.A.A. made the following interesting suggestion about organised action: “In travelling throughout the North Island, I feel the urgent need of more co-operation in the signposting schemes of the various automobile associations and I suggest that ooe representative from each association should meet to confer to lay down a general scheme for the whole of the North Island. I then suggest that the various service officers who are being appointed in the South should meet me for instruction in the general principles of signposting and instructions as laid down by the conference I suggest.
“On my forthcoming trip to Gisborne 1 have a certain amount of territory to cover around Napier and have agreed with the Hawke’s Bay Automobile Association that their newlv-ap-pointed service officer should accompany me for a day. Trips of this sort certainly help, but I feel that some organised action is necessary in the interest of the touring motorist.”
Travelling in the heart of New York at the speed of express trains is the prospect offered to motorists by the city’s approval of a new elevated roadway. This long-mooted road for the exclusive use of motor-cars will run along the west side of the city for four miles. The viaduct will be 20ft. above the street level and 60ft. wide. It will cost £2,700,000.
