PLAZA

“GIVE AND TAKE” The entertaining and excellentlyvaried programme being provided at the Plaza Theatre continues to delight the crowded houses which attend all sessions. The dialogue comedy, “Give and Take,” is a wonderful success, not only as an exposition of the possibilities of the movietone picture, but also as a source of merriment and fun. It was impossible to do anything but laugh at this entertaining story of two American Jews who argue and wrangle over the control of a canning factory, which has been converted into a democracy. A fine selection of “shorts” supports “Give and Take,” Included in the list are a number of excellent vaudeville items. There is “Light Cavalry” overture played by the Vitaphone Symphony Orchestra, banjo playing by Eddie Peabody, songs by the three Geirsdorf Sisters of .New York musical comedy fame, and “The Song of the Volga Boatmen.” An added attraction is a special “talkie” of Italy’s greatest choral combination, the Florentine Choir, singing a number of operatic selections. The creeps and quivers of a dozer* ghost stories and detective yarns oil rolled into one are in “The Terror,” Warner Bros.’ all-talking mystery picture, which is coming as the next attraction to the Plaza. May McAvoy, who heads an all-star cast, vividly portrays an English girl, the centre of the romantic interest of this production. Miss MeAvoy was one of the first to be heard in American fea-ture-length talking pictures, and has an excellent speaking voice.
