AMBULANCE FOR GISBORNE
GIFT TO ST. JOHN BRANCH Gisborne’s St. John Ambulance Branch, if all goes well, will receive its first motor-ambulance this evening. Late last night a new vehicle, built from plans prepared in Auckland, left the city, driven by Mr. S. E. Langstone, chief transport officer in the Auckland district, on its way to Gisborne. The ambulance, which is completely fitted-up with all necessary equipment, cost £730. Its purchase was made possible by the gift of £4OO from Mr. John Clark, of Opou. who added that, sum to the £3OO already collected in the district. Mr. Langstone is accompanied by a motor-engineer and expects to reach Gisborne between five and six o’clock this evening. His route is about 370 miles long, running through Rotorua, Whakatane and Opotiki.
