Mr. A. E. Hefford, chief inspector of fisheries, is visiting: Auckland. He is <tayin* at the Star Hotel.
Mr. Justice Herdman, who was in Auckland over the week-end, returned l 0 Wellington last evening.
The Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata, Minister of Native Affairs, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening.
Mr. T. Davidson, general manager of John Court. Ltd., returned to Auckland by the Makura after spending a holiday in Australia.
The Hon. J. B. Donald, Postmaster General* arrived from Wellington this morning by the Limited. He was accompanied by Mrs. Donald.
Mr. A. W. Essex, New Zealand mantx’r of the Canadian Pacific Railways, will sail by the Makura on Tuesday n a four months’ trip to Canada.
Mr. J. E. L. Cull, designing engineer for the Public Works Department, will leave for Samoa on Tuesday by the Maui Pomare. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Cull.
Mr. T. R. Toovey, chief assistant to tlie general manager of the Port of London Authority, arrived from the .South by motor yesterday afternoon, lie is staying at the Grand.
Mr. H. N. R. Mirams of Melbourne, arrived in Auckland on the Makura this morning. Mr Mirams who is an accountant, Is combining business ivith pleasure and intends visiting Rotorua and other resorts.
Colonel J. Sclater, traffic manager for Australia and New Zealand for the Canadian Pacific Railways, arrived trom Sydney by the Makura this morning. He will make a tour of the Dominion before returning to Australia.
Mr. Harold Featherston Johnston, barrister and solicitor of Wellington, has been appointed as a member of the advisory committee to the T. G. Macarthy Board of Governors, in place of the late Sir Charles Skerrett, K.C.M.G.K.C.—P.A.
Mr. Kojiro Inque, who at present is Japanese Consul at Portland, Oregon, has been appointed successor to Mr. I. Tokugawa, as Consul-General in Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Inque (say* an Australian and N.Z. Press Association message from Tokio) will return to Tokio and then proceed to Sydney.
Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, and Mr. H. A. Somerville, secretary to the board, left by train last evening to attend a meeting of the executive of the Hospital Boards' Association in Wellington on Tuesday. Mr. J. H. Carroll, chairman of the Kaipara Hospital Board, accompanied them. Mr. Wallace will arrive back in Auckland on Friday morning.
