SHORT, SHARP LESSON
TWO MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT Urging that his client had probably met with temptation, Mr. R. A. Singer succeeded in having a charge of indecent assault preferred against George Douglas Campbell at the Police Court this morning reduced to committing a grossly indecent act. He then entered a plea of guilty. The offence, which was committed on June 27, was in respect of a boy aged 16 years and five months. Counsel said that Campbell, who was only 20 years of age, was a married man with one child, living apart from his wife. The only previous conviction against the man was of making a false declaration on a certificate of marriage and then he had been fined at the Supreme Court. "He wants a short, sharp lesson." added counsel. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.. agreed with Mr. Singer's last remark and sentenced Campbell to two months’ imprisonment.
