A Cat May Look . . . At a Prince !

The Prince o£ Wales shared his seat ■with a tiny tabby kitten when he lighted the Lamps of Maintenance of 58 new Toe H. branches at the Church Hous£, Westminster. All uninvited, puss took its place beside the Prince, and the two struck up an immediate friendship. ‘"Tubby” Clayton (.the Rev. P. B. Clayton), the founder-padre of Toe H., wai welcoming the Prince, to the

cheers of over 1,000 delegates, when the tiny white face of the kitten appeared round the corner of the platform. The little bundle of variegated fur wandered across the platform to jump into the chair vacated by the Rev. P. B. Clayton. From here puss looked wistfully at the Prince of Wales, whose chair was about a foot away. The Prince stretched out his hand and stroked puss.

That was enough. With a welljudged leap the kitten was on the Prince’s chair, where it received a royal fondling. A burst of cheering so scared the animal that it sought refuge behind the Prince's back. Whenever the Prince rose to take part in the ceremony he took the greatest care in resuming his seat not to sit on the kitten. From time to time he stroked it reassuringly.
