New Pensions Commissioner The Public Service Commissioner. Mi'. P. D. N. Verse ha ff el t. announces the appointment of Mr. H. Boyes as Commissioner of Pensions, a position made vacant by the retirement of Mr. Fache. Mr. Boyes has been assistant Commissioner since 1919.—P.A. Snow on Mount Cook -Vn exceptionally cold snap was experienced at Tunaru last night and this morning, with hail. There has beer* an eight-inch fall of snow at the Hermitage on Mount Cook, and it is still snowing. Much skiing is being indulged in.—P.A. Rotary’s Sympathy Sir Alexander Roberts, district governor of Rotary in New Zealand, has received the following cables conveying sympathy with sufferers by the recent earthquake:—From Mr. F. Birks, District Governor of Rotary in Australia, “This district wishes to convey its sincere sympathy to sufferers from the earthquake.” Also, the president of Hobart Rotary Club which passed a unanimous resolution of sincere sympathy with sufferers from the recent disaster in the Dominion. Stolen Cars Three motor-cars were taken by “joy-riders” yesterday afternoon and last evening, but two have been recovered by the police. One car belonging to Mr. W. T. Morey, of 9 Boyle Terrace, Remuora, has not been traced. It was taken from Hobson Street, near the Farmers’ Trading Co., in the evening. The missing car, a Ford, bears the number 5-116. Of the other two cars, the one belonging to Air. Richard Smith, which was taken from outside a house in Golf Road, Epsom, was recovered in Manukau Road, and the other, belonging to Air. W. H. Taylor, has also been found.
