T IKE the rest of the Australian horses seen out at the recent Auckland fixture, the Rock Huon gelding Stoney found it impossible to handle the going, consequently the “white horse’’ was not able to give the public a taste of his capabilities, and his backers went on the rocks. Each day he failed to get into step at the start, and lost a lot of ground. On the first day, however, those who were following the fortunes or misfortunes of the bleached pacer along the back, were given a glimpse of his speed powers, and it is safe to say that under favourable circumstances backers of Stoney would not go “stoney - broke.’’
